Basadi ka Dituku is an annual event that has brought women from all walks of life together to engage and discuss socio-economic issues that they face daily. The conception of the event was brought by the discrimination that took a hype of woman wearing a doek (headwrap) in a workplace, which in the African culture the doek symbolizes being a woman.
This year, 2022, the founders of Basadi ka Dituku are bringing to Soweto a GOSPEL FESTIVAL EDITION, unforgettable experience for gospel lovers to take part in rubbing shoulders with their favorite music giants which are the likes of Lebo Sekgobela, Taki Ndou, Dumi Mkokstad, Aandile la Majola, Fikile Mlomo and Zaza Mokhethi .
The lineup will also be graced by motivational speakers, stalls ranging from food to clothing and arts and craft. The event will also allow for a healing experience.
Considering the President’s announcement, the event also looks to commemorate all the women that lost their lives due to Gender Based Violence which resulted into femicide with a theme of “fighting and celebrating women”. This is to show that we also remember those women (Basadi). Femicide is the second pandemic to hit our South African land and by this we say long live the spirit of these phenomenal women.
The following Covid-19 level one protocols will be adhered to:
- All guests must wear masks and sanitise upon entrance into the Soweto Theatre.
- Audience is limited to 50% of venue capacity.
- Health questionnaire screening at all entrances with a temperature check.
- Each guest must produce their Identity Documents upon entrance in order to complete the health questionnaire.
- Inside the venue, social distancing is strictly adhered to.
