2022 Williams Hunt ISUZU Tuna Classic

The 2022 Williams Hunt ISUZU Tuna Classic will take place in Gqeberha from the 7th to 9th April 2022 with registration and the opening of the function taking place on the 6th April between 17h00 and 18h30 in the Wheelhouse at PEDSAC in the Gqeberha harbour.

Williams Hunt Isuzu continues to be a proud sponsor of the annual PE Tuna Classic- the annual fishing event has been running since 1991, with ISUZU being the headline sponsor for the past five years.

The annual three-day event draws about 30-plus boats, this year the Williams Hunt ISUZU Tuna Classic seems to be heading for a big one in Gqeberha with over R250k worth of prizes up for grabs.

Competing anglers from across the country will be contending for the prizes of the day. The Top Angler will walk away with R50k and the Top Boat wins R50k.

The Tuna Classic is regarded as one of the biggest premier Tuna tournaments in the Southern Hemisphere – in terms of total number of anglers and boats entered, as well as total prize money on offer. The Tuna Classic has for many years been a firm favourite on the South African fishing calendar.

This year the blessing of the fleet will take place at 06:30 am on 7 April at the Hobie Beach Pier, which is compulsory for all participating boats to be present.

This year the target species are tuna, marlin & dorado.

It is estimated that the tournament contributes in excess of R2 million to the Gqeberha economy. Drawing plenty visitors to the city, the Tuna classic remains a significant date on the local sporting calendar.
