KwaDukuza Mayor applauds local gold medalist in the construction sector

KwaDukuza Mayor, Cllr. Lindile Nhaca joins the rest of the nation in applauding Lungelwa Mtetwa (21) who will be heading to China after winning in the inter-continental leg of the Worldskills Africa Bricklaying Competition earlier this week at Swakopmund, Namibia.
 
Mtwetwa is a Civil Engineering & Construction student at Coastal TVET College who hails from Darnall, KwaDukuza, he is amongst the five South African gold medalists who were competing in the Worldskills Africa Competition 2022.
 
Mayor Lindile Nhaca today expressed her excitement, “This gold medal adds more chapters to the good stories that we have been able to tell over the years about the inherent talent we possess here at home. Mtetwa truly raised the bar much higher based on the results he attained in this particular competition. This is an indication that we need to invest more on youth-based programmes in our effort to improve the quality of lives of our people.”

Team South Africa topped the medal table with five golden medals, followed by Namibia. A total of 70 Competitors from nine African countries were competing in sixteen skills from 28 March – 02 April 2022. In the Bricklaying category, Mtetwa was give 16 hours to complete two bricklaying projects.

Worldskills South African Competitors is an organization dedicated to raising the profile of skilled people and achieving economic growth. The world championships will take place from 12 to 17 October 2022 in Shanghai. WorldSkills International has a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) the African Union.
