Proudly SA partners with SA music awards for SAMA28

For the second year running, Proudly South African has entered into a partnership with the South African Music Awards (SAMA) for SAMA28, the 28th instalment of the prestigious music awards which will be taking place in Sun City this weekend.

As custodians of advocating for locally made products and services, Proudly SA has endorsed the award ceremony, recognising and lauding its contribution to the growth of South Africa’s creative arts industry over the past 28 years.

“The SAMAs are seen to be the most coveted awards in the music industry, recognising the hard work and dedication of South African artists and their teams,” says Proudly SA Chief Executive, Eustace Mashimbye.

“The creative arts industry represents a huge source of jobs predominantly for young people; therefore, it gives us great pleasure to endorse these awards and the incredible job creation value chain they contribute to, especially now that the physical event has been reinstated. From event organising and logistics, hospitality and entertainment, domestic tourism, to artists recognition and development, marketing of the awards, management and distribution teams, many South Africans stand to benefit from SAMA28 and we are honoured to be associated with the event,” he adds.

Proudly SA will also be promoting its Living Lekker Locally initiative which aims to illustrate that South Africa produces just about everything that we need to function in our everyday lives and that these items are readily available in local stores and online. Living Lekker Locally everyday means that from dawn to dusk, South Africans are able to drive, wear, eat, watch local content, listen to local content, read and travel locally. If you consume it daily, you most certainly can purchase it locally.

The hosts of SAMA28 have also been encouraged to Wear Local to promote South African fashion, and all invited guests who will be strutting their stuff on the red carpet will also be showcasing just how lekker local truly is! As part of Proudly South African’s many Buy Local efforts, this element also seeks to highlight the critical CTFL (clothing, textile, footwear, leather) sector which is labour intensive and creates thousands of jobs throughout its value chain.

Formed in 2001, Proudly South African has become synonymous with quality home grown, produced and manufactured goods and services. Buying local benefits every single sector of our society, it caters for entire families, households and most importantly, the economy as well as the tax base of our country.

Says RiSA CEO Nhlanhla Sibisi, “The South African Music Awards have been acknowledging musical excellence for 28 years. To partner again with Proudly South African is undoubtedly a moment of pride and we are excited about the possibilities that have arisen and those that are still to arise from this partnership. As an organization we are honoured to contribute to South Africa’s musical development and to the creation of much needed jobs for this sector.”
