Canon Collaborates with new Photography Reality Series

Photography offers an opportunity for anyone to be creative, showcase their passion, share an experience with friends and family and most of all a way to create lasting memories. Having a camera in your hands allows you to share how you see the world.

Canon Southern Africa has collaborated with a new upcoming reality show on SABC 1, The Perfect Picture, a seven-part reality series whereby seven celebrities with a passion for photography compete against one another to prove that they have what It takes to step away from the spotlight and triumph behind the camera.

Young and vibrant variety of celebrities from various disciplines, will be armed with their own Canon camera and must navigate through a series of challenges, using their creative skill to show that they can capture moments that tell their own stories.

These social media savvy personalities include the likes of Johannesburg-based model, photographer, and body-positive influencer Thickleyonce; afro soul singer Donald Moatshe; South African rapper, singer-songwriter, and model Money Badoo; musician and actor Mnqobi Yazo, actor Lebohang Msiza, and more.

Presented by Siyabonga Metane (Silkour), the series consists of a panel of highly experienced judges across the fields of journalism, lifestyle, commercial, and creative photography. Every week, contestants will have to test their eye across various subjects, including spinning cars, energetic dogs, cage fighting, food, and stuff being blown up.

Above the task of capturing different subjects, the requirements for every challenge will change too. The contestants may need to tell a unique story, capture action, convey raw emotion, or capture a single image to accurately reflect South African ideas and culture. In some cases, they will have to produce pictures that tick multiple boxes.

Canon, a leading brand in photography and videography, was a natural choice to sponsor the series.

With quality cameras in their hands, the only thing left to set the contestants apart from one another will be their creativity and willingness to dare to see things differently. The audience will also get an opportunity to learn about photography and what it takes to have the best eye for a perfect picture. Can these celebrities break the mould of their own creative process and channel a new angle into their photography?
