Land reform that works: City hands over more title deeds in Lourensia Park

Councillor Pophaim and officials in the Human Settlements Directorate celebrated with the new title deed beneficiaries in Lourensia Park.

‘The City’s Human Settlements Directorate’s mission and commitment is focused on delivery land reform that works. We are enabling redress and transformation and we are making our way to more areas where title deeds will be handed over to rightful beneficiaries.

‘The Lourensia Park housing project is a special one and provides affordable housing to 150 families. Our Human Settlements Directorate is creating a space where no resident is left behind. Our title deeds programme is extremely important as it empowers the beneficiaries as property owners with access to tenure in order build a life that fulfils their hopes and dreams.

‘We thank the communities, City teams and project steering committee for their work and for working with us. We will ensure that our brand new home owners receive programmes educating them on the responsibilities of their new homes in terms of financial management, maintenance, how to draw up wills and all manner of household and family planning.

‘I am dedicated to leading a Human Settlements Directorate that is accessible and transparent in its work, focused on the fair and just delivery of opportunities for all residents,’ said Councillor Pophaim.
